Shopping Protocols = Showroom Status:

"Can I (we) shop here?"

How many times have I been in showrooms throughout the Design District and heard that phrase ring out across the floor

as people are entering a showroom.  The other most common phrase is, "We didn't know all this was here."

There are so many fine shops and stores ( Over 300 ). Here are some SHOPPING STATUS GUIDELINES used in the Design District:

S T T O       Strictly To the Trade Only:   No entry without Designer or Buyer Credentials. No browsing or shopping.

Mainly in the 4 Design Centers.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

T T O          To the Trade Only:  "Come On In" Entry access to browse and shop but "trade discounts" are limited to

"Designers Only"  if you do not have a "Designer" business card or a Designer shopping with you.

                   Merchandise priced retail.

Many T T O Showrooms have Designers "on Staff" to assist you.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

D C T T O    Always Access to Browse & Shop but major Discounts & Consideration To the Trade Only. Retail Pricing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome    Open Showroom  /  Everyone Always Welcome. Merchandise Retail Pricing.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In general, most of the "on street" businesses are open to all customers. It is manly the 4 Design Center Showrooms which

remain Strictly To The Trade Only. The four main  Centers are The Decorative Center (Hi Line Dr.), The Oak Lawn Design Plaza,

The Dallas Design Center (Slocum St.) and the International Design Center on Turtle Creek at Irving Blvd.  So feel free to go into

virtually any shops on the 33 streets (above) which make up the Dallas-Design-District. You are ALWAYS Welcomed!

No Label     No Designation  /  Neutral Showroom. Anyone can shop. Antique Malls Open to Everyone.

Finally, just remember to ask questions and enjoy your visit. If it turns out you are in a S T T O Showroom,

just tell them you are an "Accidental Tourist" and be on your way.

I think you will find the Merchants in The Design District quite capable of

"making your purchase work".

In any event, please realize that 99 % of the merchants who you will meet will be gracious and understanding,

no matter what their Showroom Status.
